Ham Radio and the Splash 1

For 20+ years we have used ham radio in this event. From a feeble birth with a handful of guys on simplex to the peak years with 4 nets. We have dwindled back off to the “simple” use of the local repeater – K1ENF – on one net. It does an acceptable job along 80% of the event and is the backbone. This year, the quest has been to increase the available “talk time” by adding  2nd net. The availability of my portable repeaters have made the quest easier, but the success is not assured due to terrain. As hams, we are experimenters and solvers of challenges. This series of posts will document the success or failure in adding a 2nd talk channel.
