GENERAL RACE INFORMATION:

RACE COMMITTEE:

Consists of a mix of the “old” original committee and incoming new committee in a cooperative effort to keep the race going.

Race Date: March 31, 2018

Rain Date: maybe April 21.

Ham HQ Setup: 830

Race Registration Hours: 9-11.

Bus 1: 9am to 2pm ish

Bus 2: 10am to 3pm

Race Start Location: Off Quality Lane in Somersville.

Novice Race Finish: 11 Bailey Rd. 2 mile race. Mostly flat and gentle river stream.

Race Class Finish: Barn at Powder Hollow, South Maple Str. 5 miles with Class 2 rapids. First year without a mandatory portage around the Springboard Dam (removed).

First Race finisher will approach Finish Rapids around 1230.

Timing – Differential timing is used. Time sheets are hand carried to HQ.

APRS – is used to track shuttle busses.

Parking

This year a limited number of cars may park at the Race HQ, Dusthouse Rd and Powder Ridge. Overflow will be at Fermi with busing to Race HQ.

Busing – 2 buses will be dispatched by ham-radio and can be tracked on APRS.

Bussing Priorities – 0900-1200 the priority is to transport racers to start. An occasional request will be honored from FERMI remote parking during this time.

Noon to the end – Buses will support both spectator pick up from Fermi to HQ and racers between START, NOVICE FINISH and HQ. Ham Operators at these locations will take requests and BUS Coordinator will optimize transport. Transportation usually stops about 30-45 minutes after last racer finishes.
