Project APRS

APRS is every event coordinator’s dream tool. Being able to visually track resources without the typical “where are you?” call expedites dispatching of these resources.

APRS combines a GPS with a TNC (radio modem) and a VHF radio to broadcast the location of the unit. There are also smart phone based apps available for a few dollars.

The picture on the right is from a smartphone while on the course. The event layout is clearly defined with aid stations marked and some of the roving units.
