JB SAG Operations 2022

1. TIME AND PLACE

1. Date: September 18^th, 2022
2. Meet @ Start 0830
3. Road closes 0915
4. Start 0930
5. Start Location: Price Chopper Plaza, Gt Barrington.

2. BIKE RACE

The fastest rider will get through the 27-mile course in 1:05 while the slowest may be 2½ hours. Support can be in the form of tools/ minor repairs, first aid reporting to include transport of bike and rider.

3. COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Bike Course pre-start location is in a shopping plaza among parked cars. The start is on Route 7 by McDonalds.

The course goes through Gt Barrington’s Main Street before turning right on Taconic Ave towards Alford and northbound on a moderately hilly tertiary road-course.

Just south of the Mass Pike the course turns right (East) on Route 102 towards Stockbridge.

In the center of Stockbridge, the course turns left (North) on Pine Street and continues on Prospect Hill rd.

As the last bikes arrive the Stockbridge Bowl area, the Bike and Running Course will share the road, but in opposite directions.

4.  COURSE WARNING

The road course is open for general use. Additionally, event motorcycles are also roaming the route.

5. COORDINATION

The SAG group will have 2 levels of coordination:

1. Race HQ with SAG Coordinator (Knut), and
2. SAG Group Internal within the group

6. VEHICLE SIGNAGE

In 2021 we introduced new signage on all vehicles.

Additionally, the SAG Course Vehicles have amber/white strobes on the passenger sun visor.

 

7. COMMUNICATIONS

The SAG Team relies on business band radios between our vehicles. Rapid coordination makes for an efficient and flexible response. Communications back to Race HQ is via race safety radio system or cell.

8. VISIBLE ON MAP

In 2021 the SAG Coordinator vehicle was visible on a computerized race course map. The success of this led to a 2022 planned expansion of more of the vehicles being equipped with this tool. 9. SUPPORT AND GEAR (SAG) OBJECTIVES

• Observe and Call-In Medical Problems!
  • Via SAG Coordinator to RACE HQ, or
  • Can call 911 direct, then follow up via SAG Coordinator
• Report Dropouts (bib number) to race command via SAG Coordinator.
• Roam Course
  • Bike Support
  • Coordination with Bike Repair Van
• Transport Broken Bikes & Rider to Exchange / Finish Area

10. SAG TEAM PATTERN

No vehicle will ever be in the “correct position” by design. However, between sweeping and communicating, the team will get the closest resource to the needing party.
